It’s important to fill up our own batteries if we want to charge others. With that saying, I’m addressing one of the biggest problems of our modern day society, which is called ‘stereotypes’ regarding sleeping patterns. It’s needless to say that we all live in the same world with the same rules and also the same daily routine. Sun goes up every morning to wake us up and then down again in the evening to send us humans to sleep. Therefore, our society is doing so as well. We have to get up every single morning to go to school, university or work to drive our economy, and then head to bed in the evening, just early enough to get adequate sleep to be ready & fit for tackling the next day and do it all over again. But something is missing in that ‘oh-so-wonderful’ routine and that is consideration of stereotypes. Yes, it’s scientifically proven that NOT every human being has the same day & night routine. In fact, every human being is different, that’s what we all have to accept but makes life so interesting if you ask me. Now, science categorizes all people into two different stereotypes: Early birds & night owls. It is vastly proven that early birds are the backbone of our society. Why is that? Well, because they play after the common rules. They get up early just as the sun does, go to their jobs & work their butt off because they have all the energy needed to doing so. The night owls, on the other hand, are the people that sleep even when the sun is already up. They are the people being at their mental & physical peek later in the day. Just like cats, they like to sleep & relax into the first half of the day, only to become super energized when the early birds are almost already sleepy again. Now, why do I address this topic so vividly? Because I myself am a night owl. I tried waking up at 5 every morning, I tried it a little later between 6 -7, I experimented with strict habits and all that stuff only to find out that no matter what I try and do, I always appreciate the little extra sleep and the nightly silence when still working at 12 in the middle of the night. I’m a very clear night owl and I pretty much knew that long before I started testing all of that stuff. But why did I test it then if the outcome was already a clear thing? I mean you know that you will be in pain if you touch a hot cooking plate already so why would you test it? The answer to that was really shocking to me because that is something I did not realize until I deeply thought about it. I did all these little tests for one reason – To please our society & economy. Yes, exactly. I did not do this for me but for other people only. I desperately tried to fit in. I no longer wanted to be late to work, I no longer wanted to be titled ‘lazy’ even tho all the things I already accomplished with my 23 years of age. I no longer wanted to self-judge every single ‘morning’ why I’m already that late again. I was drugged from all the business articles, the motivational videos and other bs that is telling everyone to get up early in order to succeed in life. As an entrepreneur, you should get up early. Look at the most successful people in our world, they all get up early. But you know what? Other people are NOT you. And there is evidence especially on YouTube where very successful vloggers, entrepreneurs & public figures clearly say that they do get up later and look at them; Aren’t they more successful than others? Listen, my definition of ‘success’ is a happy & fulfilling life full of energy. Now, why would you wanna sacrifice that in order to make ‘more’ money (by the public saying, get up early to be successful in life) when in reality, you should listen to your inner clock and stereotype to then realize that you can become even more successful doing so? In my theory, success requires commitment and lots of daily work. Success is built upon daily habits. Now doesn’t that require the best of energy you can pull every single day? It requires you being at the top of your energy every day. So if you’re a night owl but choose to listen to the articles and people telling you to get up early in order to become successful, you will end up with only 50% of your daily energy, which is the source to your daily actions and habits and therefore runs or ruins your successes in whatever you do and build.
With that article I want to make a statement, a statement of a new age society in which you should NOT do what people try telling you is common sense, but instead go with your own flow because although we are a whole big community in general, every single human being is different and that’s what makes us humans.
